Many of the descriptions used for foster children are negative, so we wanted to find some positive traits that will serve to inspire current and former foster children to cultivate these traits and use them to create bright futures for themselves. This week, we are focusing on passionate, leaders, and advocates.
Often, foster children, especially as they grow older, find a need to become advocates - not only for themselves, but as they find they have a voice and power to use it, they become advocates for others, especially siblings or other foster children they had a connection with. But not only those they know - they often are advocates for animals and for other foster children or even other groups with less power.
Foster children tend to become passionate about protecting others and giving those without a voice the power to be heard and respected. Often they become great advocates and protectors, especially of those they recognize as not being able to protect themselves or those they see being treated badly without a way to stop it.
Others see the passion these current and former foster children exude, and tend to want to follow them and support them. Many times you will see current and former foster children heading up their own charities, such as A'Layah's Lemonade For Love.
Nothing is as important as passion. No matter what you want to do with your life, be passionate.
